Quails Class

Welcome to the Quails Class!

Oftentimes, the Quails class is the first experience children have with school, and so we primarily focus on social and emotional learning while gently introducing academics through sensory experiences, playtime, music and stories.

Our days are spent adjusting to a scholastic environment and all the fun and new experiences that it has to offer. Twice a day we gather the children together and work on our ABC’s, days of the week, months of the year, seasons, weather, sounds, and recognizing and spelling our names. Four days a week, our Spanish teacher visits and the children sing songs, play games and engage in fun activities where we work on counting, colors, days of the week, foods, family members and other terms/phrases in Spanish.

Our Quails are also exposed to music, dance and instruments with our music director, Ms. Patti.  We also incorporate learning centers into our daily work that focus on letters/sounds, shapes, numbers/counting, writing, and a craft. In addition, we introduce our children to the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum for letters and handwriting, that we continue through our other classes, building on this early foundation.

Lastly, and very important…Playtime!  Our Quails get plenty of playtime in their day! We start each morning with inside play time and have two outside recesses throughout our day. The kids also get to play in t

he classroom when we are doing centers.

Our goal is to ensure that our Quails are safe, having fun, becoming socially aware and developing a love for learning and a positive relationship with school.
