Spanish

Senora Karla visits each classroom 4 days a week, providing a comprehensive beginning Spanish curriculum.  She will sing, read stories and provide lots of love, hugs and new Spanish vocabulary throughout the school year.

Some of the topics that will be covered in Spanish each year are:

  • Los colores (Colors)
  • Los números (Numbers)
  • La familia (Family)
  • El cuerpo (The Body)
  • La ropa (Clothes)
  • La comida (Food)
  • Las días de la semana (Days of the week)
  • Los animales (animals)

Señora Karla utilizes a variety of teaching styles throughout the year.  Her lessons are frequently very interactive in order to properly engage the children in the learning environment.  Singing songs, bingo, bean bags sorting, matching games and dress up are just a few of the activities that the children enjoy throughout the year.  Repetition is key for learning another language at this early age. We are amazed year over year at how quickly the children soak up a new language.  The Kindergarten class is exposed to numbers through 100! They are so excited to learn not only English, but Spanish as a second language!
